The Kulabahal Paramhansa Yogananda Vidyapith began as a junior high school in the year 1965 with just eight students in a small cottage in a far reaching endeavor to provide the light of education in the remote and distant areas of Purulia district. The child of 1965 is today a man of experience and maturity and has around 550 students.
Located at 30 kms from the city of Purulia and 66 kms from Bankura, the school got upgraded to the higher secondary section in the year 2012. The sylvan and tranquil environment of the school is a pleasing sight to the eye. There is an Ashram Hostel for 20 SC boarders and another hostel for around 75 boarders. The school boasts of a large playground which is used by students for playing football, volleyball, kabadi and athletic events.
